I have been asked to support my labouring patients during 7 birthings, one of them in Australia. I have also been involved in a stream of would-be parents desperate to conceive. Indeed in my clinic in Stoke on Trent where I spent 18 of the 42 years I was in practice, I eventually had a board the size of a dining table covered with photos of smiling parents with their baby/ies who were told that they’d never be able to conceive.

Strangely enough I never had a phone call from a doctor asking me how I managed this. It was no secret. I simply guided would be parents desperate to have a family. They did all the hard work and it paid off.
